About Us

8th Orleans Scout Group was founded in 1995 by the members of the Orleans United Church.  We have always been open to any member of the Orleans community as well as any gender or sexual orientation.

In 2020, 8th Orleans celebrated its 25th Anniversary. Our group has grown quite a bit from those humble beginnings where we had about 10-15 youth involved in 3 Sections, to now where we have over 100 youth involved in all five sections, and over 35 adult Volunteers. 8th Orleans is the largest group in our Council (Voyageur), and that is because of the hard work and dedication of our fantastic volunteers who provide a high level Scouting Program, plus the continual support of the Orleans United Church.

By  2023, our Group grew to over 165 youth and 45 volunteer Scouters spread across 11 Sections, including two Francophone Sections started in January 2023.  We continue to be the largest Scouting Group in Eastern Ontario and one of the largest in Canada.  We offer Scouting for all age groups and at multiple locations around Orleans.

We run a full selection of programs from Beavers to Rovers:

  • Cub Scouts - ages 8-10 (grades 3-5)

  • Scouts - ages 11-14 (grades 6-9)

  • Venturer Scouts - ages 15-17 (grades 10-12)

  • Rover Scouts - ages 18-26 (young adults)
